The cast includes Yogi Babu, Vivek, Kathir, Jackie Shroff, Manobala, Daniel Balaji, Anand Raj, Devadarshini, LM Vijayan, Indhuja Ravichandran, Amritha Aiyer, Rebba Monica John, Varsha Bollama and RJ Ananthi. GK Vishnu has handled cinematography and AR Rahman has composed music. T Muthuraj was in-charge of art and Anthony L Ruben has taken up editing responsibilities.
The film recently ran into trouble because its audio launch was held at a popular engineering college in Chennai for which a notice was issued by the ruling government. They claimed that the event was political because actor Vijay was found using political connotations throughout his speech. He was allegedly hinting at the AIADMK government in a negative way. TNCC president KS Alagiri condemned this move since it was not a political event and asked for the immediate withdrawal of the notice.
A few days back the first look of Whistle, the Telugu dubbed version of Bigil was released by AR Rahman on Twitter. The poster features Vijay in two looks, a suave young one and a fierce older one with a sickle in hand.
