Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha Krishnan’s film, ’96, directed by cinematographer C Premkumar, goes on floors today. The pooja ceremony of the film took place today, soon after which the team headed to the shooting spot.
Marking Premkumar’s directorial debut, the film will be set in the 90s much like what the poster indicates. Vijay Sethupathi will play a wildlife photographer in this one and the film will be a romantic one.

Malayalam cinema’s music composer, Govind Menon, best known for his work in 100 Days of Love, is part of the project which is being bankrolled by Nandhagopal of Madras Enterprises.

Prem Kumar and Vijay Sethupathi have worked together before, on films like Sundarapandian and Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom. Prem Kumar was the cinematographer for these films, as well as Pasanga. Incidentally, Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom was based on an incident that happened at Prem Kumar’s wedding.
Vijay Sethupathi, meanwhile, has a slew of projects. His film with Madhavan – Vikram Vedha – is currently in post-production stage. He is also in the midst of shooting Karuppan.
