A spokesperson for the actor told Silverscreen. “Vijayakanth has been going for yearly medical checkups all his life. This visit is one such for this year. There is nothing alarming about his health right now, and I advise all his fans and well-wishers to not spread disturbing news and false information about his health.”

The actor was accompanied by his wife and sons to the hospital. He is likely to be discharged in a couple of days, once all the tests are over, said the spokesperson.

Meanwhile, social media had a different take on things. A fan posted on Twitter that Vijayakanth had been admitted into the hospital for the Ramana test.

In the vigilante film Ramanaa (2002), Vijayakanth famously uses the body of a dead man to test the integrity of a hospital’s administration. To milk more money, the doctors prescribe a variety of tests for the dead man. They even ask for money to conduct a “life-saving” operation.
