Vikram & Hari Will Team Up For Saamy 2

Hari will direct Saamy 2, the sequel to the cult cop film Saamy. Vikram, who played a Deputy Commissioner of Police in the first film, will star in Saamy 2 as well. The announcement was made at the launch of Iru Mugan‘s audio. Produced by Shibu Thameens, Saamy 2 will have music by Harris Jayaraj and cinematography by Priyan. There was no confirmation on whether Trisha Krishnan would be a part of the film.

Saamy was a successful action thriller which starred Vikram as a cop stationed in Thirunelveli. The movie revolved around the DC’s fight against corruption. Despite being an oft-repeated theme, Vikram’s roguish yet relatable rendition of the honest police officer fighting corruption won audiences over.

Trisha Krishnan had acted opposite Vikram, as a dainty Tamil-Brahmin student. The film’s mature handling of the romance, along with Vivek’s comic track were pivotal to the film’s popularity. Saamy was also a musical hit, with songs composed by Harris Jayaraj.

The director-actor duo subsequently worked together in the 2004 film, Arul, which had a moderate run at the box-office.

Vikram’s next release will be Iru Mugan, which also stars Nayanthara and Nithya Menen. Hari is working with Suriya in Singam 3.
