Vikrant Massey, the Hindi film actor, is set to star in the Hindi remake of the Malayalam film Forensic, PTI reported on Saturday.
It is among the three Hindi remakes of South Indian films that Mansi Bagla’s production company Mini Films has acquired rights for.
Forensic is a crime and mystery thriller starring Tovino Thomas as the protagonist. It released in theatres this February and is currently streaming on Netflix.
Forensic is co-written and co-directed by Akhil Paul and Anas Khan and the film marks their directorial debut. The film features Mamta Mohandas, Reba Monica John, Renji Panicker, Dhanesh Anand and Saiju Kurup in prominent roles.
Thomas plays the role of Samuel, who is a medico-legal advisor better known as a forensic officer, the same role that Massey will be playing in the Hindi remake. The story revolves around the forensic officer who uses his forensic skills in search of a psychotic serial killer who is out on a killing spree and his victims are usually little girls.
Talking about the film, Massey told PTI: “When I saw Forensic, I was immediately hooked onto it. It is an intelligent film that keeps you on tenterhooks. At the same time, it is an out-and-out entertainer.”

Bagla said that the Hindi remake will be a one of a kind film. “In Hindi films, we have always seen cop movies but have not seen a movie on a forensic officer who plays a vital role in solving any crime drama.”
It is not clear when Massey, who is currently shooting for 14 Phere, is expected to begin shooting for the remake.
There has been no announcement on the title and the rest of the cast of the Hindi remake yet. There has also been no official announcements on the shooting schedule or release date of the film.
