Vimal has signed on as the male lead in Rajathandhiram director Amid’s next. A thriller, the film will go on the floors soon.
Vimal is excited to team up with Amid. “I watched Rajathandhiram and was very excited by its plot. My image right now is very rural-based. I hope Amid’s new film, which has an urban-centric plot will change all that,” the actor told Silverscreen.
He also has a new film with debutant director Siva. Produced by Suseenthiran, the film has music by Imman, cinematography by Vijay Milton and dialogues written by Vimal’s mentor Pandiraj.
Vimal is grateful for ‘one more opportunity’ to work with Pandiraj. Vimal debuted with Pasanga, directed by Pandiraj. “I am a fan of his work and his dialogues. He gave me an impressive start with Pasanga. Everywhere I go people still associate me with the character he created. In villages, in bus stops that’s how they know me. They call me Pasanga Vimal still. So, I’m very thankful that I get to work with him again,” he said.

He is also convinced that the film will turn out to be a success. “So many experienced people have signed on for this. Suseenthiran, Imman, Vijay Milton, Pandiraj are all old hands at this cinema business and obviously know more than I do about how it works. So them being a part of all this gives me great confidence that this film will succeed.”
Apart from this, the actor also has Boopathy Pandian’s Mannar Vagera in the pipeline. The film will release sometime in 2017.
