Actor Vishal, the new General Secretary of the South Indian Film Artistes Association, was stuck in the middle of a controversy for stating that the Nadigar Sangam will not indulge in Kaveri water issue. Chennai Police officials have arrested 50 members belonging to the Tamil Progressive Force for burning Vishal’s effigy when they weren’t allowed to protest infront of Vishal’s house in Anna Nagar.

The members claimed that Vishal should apologise for ‘huting’ farmer’s feelings when he openly declared that Nadigar Sangam wouldn’t intervene in the issue. Also, they demanded that Vishal should apologise to Rajinikanth for not taking action in changing the name of Nadigar Sangam to Tamil Nadu Film Artistes Association.
Actor Vishal won the Nadigar Sangam elections by competing against Radha Ravi and took over the post of General Secretary for the years 2015 to 2018. Yesterday, the newly elected team members and the executive members distributed eatables and clothes to the members of the Sangam ahead of Diwali.
