Actor Vishal, who was last seen in the action film Enemy alongside Arya, recently announced that he is reuniting with the producer of that movie, Vinod Kumar, for an Adhik Ravichandran directorial.
Dubbed Vishal33, it will be a pan-Indian film made on a big budget, the actor added.
Speaking to Silverscreen India, Adhik, who has previously helmed the adult comedy Trisha Illana Nayanthara and the action comedy Anbanavan Asaradhavan Adangadhavan (AAA), says, “We are planning to announce the title of the film around New Year’s Day.”
“After my first film, I got branded as a director who makes only certain types of movies. I kept getting approached for similar projects and it took me a long time to come out of that stereotype. This one will be an action film. However, unlike most films in the genre, we wanted to make this more family-oriented. Vishal has a strong base in the action genre, but we have tried to explore both aspects. We’ve attempted to bring forth a concept, without resorting to just raw stunt sequences,” adds the filmmaker, who has also written the story of Vishal33.
On how the collaboration with the actor came about, he says, “I had met Vishal sir back in 2014 itself and we share a good bond. Before the lockdown, during the shoot for Enemy, we met often and that’s when this project was conceived. My second film, AAA, turned out to be a half-baked one with a lot of issues and I was struggling to come out of it. Despite this, Vishal has placed trust in me with this big-budget film.”
He goes on to add that well-known actors from across India will be part of the cast of the film, which will be made in Tamil and Telugu.
The project is set to go on floors in February 2022, and set work will commence in Chennai on January 4.

Meanwhile, Adhik is currently awaiting the release of Prabhu Deva-starrer Bagheera, which he tells us has been completed. The film also features Amyra Dastur, Gayathri, Janani, and Sanchita Shetty, among others. “The production house is aiming for a February 2022 release in theatres for Bagheera. The film is about a psychopath and it’s notable that we have had only a few films in Tamil cinema, such as Manmadhan, Sigappu Rojakal, and Aalavandhan, where the central character is a psychopath,” he adds.
