Things are certainly looking up for actor Vishnu Vishal with his Jeeva impressing critics and the audience alike. Time and again, his tryst with cricket has proved lucky for him. It brought him his first role (Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu with Suseenthiran) and has become a lucky charm of sorts. “I have cricket to thank for a lot of things. It gave me my start in this industry, and gave me the opportunity to make so many good friends. This is also the reason Jeeva is very close to my heart. I played a version of myself in the film and to be appreciated for it is truly overwhelming.” While Vishnu Vishal’s previous films have all been multi starrers, Jeeva is the first one that is completely dependent on him. “The success of Jeeva has given me confidence to start picking movies that are driven by the hero alone. In fact, my next three films will be like that!”
Idam Porul Eval has him joining hands with Seenu Ramaswamy, who earlier directed him in Neer Paravai. “The perception is that even this film will have a sad ending like the other Seenu movies. But that is not true. The film ends on a pleasant note!” IPE is currently in post production and plans are on to launch its audio soon. He is also very happy that his directors keep coming back to him with character driven roles. “Seenu sir watched IPE recently and told me that he would definitely work with me again. Suseenthiran sir said the same after watching Jeeva. I am blessed to have directors like them show so much confidence in my abilities and to keep offering me these strong roles.”
Vishnu Vishal has Kalakkuray Maaplay with Bindu Madhavi, an untitled film with CV Kumar and another with Vendhar Movies in the offing. “All three films have a lighter tone to them. Jeeva and my next Idam Porul Eval are slightly intense films but the ones following them will be comedies!”. Mundasupatti 2 is also in the works but the actor is not sure when the project will materialise. “I would definitely love to be part of the cast, but at this point, I’m not very sure about the other details.”
