Viswasam has been given a U certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification, paving its way for a release on Pongal 2019. The film with Ajith Kumar and Nayanthara in lead roles has music by D Imman.

The social media handle of the production house, Sathya Jyothi Films, posted: “Viswasam will be a Universal family entertainer”
The spokesperson for the producer, Sathya Jyothi Films, said, “We have a reputation for churning out clean entertainers that the entire family can enjoy at the theatres. Viswasam continues in this line of films from us. Ajith sir and Siva sir have given a great product. The film is a mix of both the rural and city entertainers, so all of the audience can enjoy,” he said.
“Our production house is thankful to Ajith Kumar sir and director Siva for being the supportive pillars in making this film happen. We are sure that Viswasam will stand out to be a wholesome entertainer for this season,” said producer T.G. Thyagarajan of Sathya Jyothi Films in an official statement.

Ajith has two distinct looks in the film. He essays a character known as Thookkudhurai, said director T Siva in an earlier interview with Silverscreen.
Meanwhile, Petta, the other Pongal release, has been awarded a U/A certificate. The Rajinikanth starrer has music by Anirudh Ravichander and has Trisha Krishnan, Simran, Bobby Simha, Vijay Sethupathi and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in important roles. Reports have it that the film touches upon issues such as honour killings and the Muslim – Hindu clashes in TN. But the production house has not confirmed this so far.
The makers of both Viswasam and Petta haven’t released a trailer for their films as yet. Reports have it that Petta’s trailer will be unveiled on the New Year, that is the January 1, 2019.
