The weekend is almost here, with movies gearing up to hit the screens this Friday. However, this week, only a few films are releasing in Chennai offering little variety to moviegoers. A fantasy film and an environmental one, here’s a look at this week’s releases:
Indrajith (Tamil)
Gautham Karthik’s Indrajith, bankrolled by Kalaipuli S Thanu, has been due for release for a long time. Gautham’s recent releases, Ivan Thanthiran and Hara Hara Mahadevaki had a decent run at the box office, with this being his fifth release of the year.
Talking about the film, director Kalaaprabhu told Silverscreen, “ It is an adventurous fantasy film based on a treasure hunt. Gautham plays Indrajith, an assistant to an archaeology professor and he travels to the forests of Kerala in search of a treasure, which is definitely not gold or any valuable stone. It’s going to be a surprise.”
The cast also includes Ashrita Shetty as the female lead and Prathap Pothan, Sachin Khedekar and Sudanshu Pandey in supporting roles.
Kadvi Hawa (Hindi)
Directed by Nila Madhab Panda, who shot to fame with his National Award-winning film I Am Kalam, focuses on climate change and environment that’s based on a true story. Set in the drought-prone Bundelkhand region, the villages start to vanish from coastal Odisha and Chambal region of Dholpur, Rajasthan. Sanjay Mishra plays an old, blind man who is dealing with the drought in the village and Ranveer Shorey plays a migrant from Odisha who lost everything in a calamity.
The film also stars Tillotama Shome and Bhupendra Singh, and is being bankrolled by Dhrishyam Films.
