As I park my bike outside the GRT convention centre, I hear the loud sounds of the ‘Vroom Vroom’ song. I hurriedly check my watch, wondering if I’m late. Then I remember. I couldn’t be late for a press meet if I tried. We wait. 45 minutes after the scheduled time, Vikram, director Vijay Milton, and co-producer AR Murugadoss arrive. No sign of the heroine, Samantha, though. I hear a few sighs.
The trailer and the teasers are played. The anchor invites the celebrities on stage. And it’s business as usual, as Vijay Milton begins the 10 Enradhukulla press meet by praising his cast and crew. He says he had been apprehensive about making a big budget film right after Goli Soda, which was made on a shoe-string budget. But his producers and Vikram had given him the confidence to go ahead with the film.
Next comes Vikram, saying he has 10 points to make. He didn’t actually have 10. He has 7, and jokingly tells reporters that he’ll share the remainder after 10 Endradhukulla’s release. Vikram is full of praise for Samantha, whom he describes as ‘brilliant both on screen and off screen’. He says he’s happy that she is on board the 10 Endradhukulla team. And that she is now his favourite co-star.
To the inevitable question about the Nadigar Sangam elections, Vikram replies, “Nice Question. Next?” Can’t really blame him. Vijay Milton decides to answer a question about rumours of a rift between the 10 Endradhukulla team and music director Imman. He says there’s no rift, and that Imman hadn’t been able to attend because of heavy traffic.
There are the usual preposterous questions. For instance, “What can one do in the time it takes to count to 10, other than counting to 10?” Vijay Milton decides to take that one on. He says Vikram plays a great car driver in the film. For him, 10 seconds is plenty of time to make plenty of moves. Hence the title – 10 Endradhukulla.
