As we enter Sathyam, we see singer Shakthisree Gopalan jamming a few lines from the Aararo song along with a band. Soon after, we see Nithya Menen joining her, rehearsing her lines from Laali Jo, the Telugu version of the song. The guests slowly start trickling in, as other singers like Chinmayi Sripada did her rehearsal of Naan Un Azhaginile. AR Rahman was welcomed with a strong buzz from the crowd.
The highlight of the event was the live performances of songs by the singers. AR Rahman took us all by surprise by playing the keys when Nithya Menen sang a Telugu song from the film. The cast and crew of the film had great things to say about the music and the technical aspects of 24. The star of the day, AR Rahman was welcomed onto the stage with a standing ovation. This year incidentally also marks his 24th years as a music composer. He kept his speech simple saying “I am not going to talk much about the film, hope you all like the music, God bless”
Actor Karthi released the trailer of the film, which got a tremendous response from the crowd. Suriya had quite an unexpected request to his fans “Support only by good films, if they are bad, do not make them win. That’s the only way I can do better work”. This statement was welcomed with a thunderous applause. Suriya ended his speech by condemning students who committed suicide on seeing the exam papers. He spoke on the value of life and no problem in life is worth ending one’s life.
