The International Indian Film Awards (IIFA) press conference at Chennai saw actors like Madhavan, Hansika Motwani, Nasser, Simran, Namitha, Pooja Kumar, and Amitash Pradhan, among others, casting their votes for this year’s nominees. Subsequently, the public will be able to vote for their favourite stars. The actors present expressed their appreciation over the IIFA’s decision to be inclusive of South Indian Cinema by organising a three-day event IIFA ‘UTSAVAM’ to be held between December 4 and 6 in Hyderabad.
Madhavan, who has been part of several IIFA editions, said he was ecstatic that the IIFA was being constituted for the southern languages as well. Fortune, the main sponsors of the IIFA-South, made the celebrities write the names of their favourite home-cooked meal on a board. From mor kuzhambu to filter coffee, several southern specialities were subsequently listed.
The IIFA are a set of awards presented every year to honour artistic and technical excellence of professionals in the Indian film industries. Inaugurated in 2000, the ceremony is held in a different country every year.
