The press conference of the fourth edition of SIIMA 2015 was held at the Taj Club House in Chennai. Actors Rana Daggubati, Taapsee Pannu, Amala Paul and music director Anirudh Ravichander were the guests of honour. Also on the dias were SIIMA chairperson Mrs Brinda Prasad and Micromax Chief Marketing Officer Mr. Shubajith Sen.
The guests of honour spoke about how SIIMA was like a family re-union for everyone ,and that it was one of the best places to make friends in the industry. This edition will showcase 20 scintillating performances from artists including Taapsee Pannu, Amala Paul, and Adah Sharma. The award ceremony will be held in Dubai on August 6 and August 7.
Micromax’s World’s Slimmest phone Canvas Silver 5 and Canvas Knight 2 were launched at the event. These phones were given to Rana Daggubati and Anirudh Ravichander respectively. Rana Daggubati and Anirudh Ravichander shared a light moment on stage, and joked that the slimmest phone should be given to Anirudh, while the Knight 2 would be apt for Rana.
Taapsee, wearing a white gown designed by Urvashi Joneja and styled by Devki Bhatt, said she was excited about attending her first SIIMA. She added that she doesn’t usually attend award functions, and coming here took some convincing.
Among the 19 categories, Director Pa Ranjith’s Madras is the front-runner with 11 nominations, including the nomination for the Best Film award. Cinematographer-turned-director Velraj’s Velai Illa Pattadhari has the second spot with 9 nominations, followed by AR Murugadoss’s Kaththi and Karthik Subbraja’s Jigarthanda with 7 nominations each.
