Shahid Kapoor, the Hindi actor who was last seen in Kabir Singh, will make his digital debut with filmmaker duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK.
The yet-to-be-titled show, co-written by Sita R Menon, Suman Kumar, and Hussain Dalal, will stream on Amazon Prime Video and will be a quirky drama thriller series filled with the director duo’s trademark dark and wry humour. According to a press release, the production has commenced for the project.
In a statement, Kapoor talked about how he was keen to collaborate with Raj and DK, the makers of Amazon Prime Video’s The Family Man.
“My favourite Indian show on Amazon Prime Video is The Family Man. I couldn’t think of anyone better for my digital debut than them… I loved the story idea when I first heard it and since then it has been an exciting ride so far! Can’t wait to share this series with the audience,” Kapoor said in the statement.
“For us, the objective is always to challenge ourselves to do better with every film or series we do. This is our favourite script and has truly been a labour of love. We found a perfect match in Shahid! He was always our first choice for this series. We hit it off immediately, and have been on the same page from the first time we spoke. Shahid is an exciting actor to watch and work with! The intensity he brings to his roles is amazing,” Raj and DK said in the statement.
While the statement said that announcements on other cast members is awaited, it has been speculated that Raashi Khanna will be seen playing the female lead in this series, after Kapoor posted a selfie with her on his Instagram story and welcomed her on-board. Khanna had also shared the selfie on her social media page.
On Thursday, Kapoor shared a video from the sets featuring the director duo, Khanna, and other crew members.
