Amazon Prime Video is launching Comicstaan Semma Comedy Pa, a Tamil spin-off series of their popular Hindi stand-up comedy contest Comicstaan on September 11. Directed by Arjun Karthikeyan and written by D Jai Adhitya and Mervyn Rozario A, the series is being bankrolled by Only Much Louder (OML) for the platform. The launch of the series marks Amazon Prime Video’s foray into original Tamil content.
The series will see top comedians Praveen Kumar, Karthik Kumar, and Rajmohan Arumugam, experts in their respective genres of comedy, mentor selected contestants who will compete to become the king or queen of comedy in the Tamil stand-up scene. The eight-episode series will be the first of its kind on a video streaming service in Tamil. The show will be hosted by actress Vidyullekha Raman and standup comedian Mervyn Rozario.
