With Covid-19 restrictions being eased across the country, the prospects of theatre owners seem to be looking up. However, even as cinema halls regain momentum, OTT platforms are still releasing new content for audiences, and we bring you here a list of some of the ones coming up this week.
On the theatre front, several big-budget films premiered in the past week, including actor Ajith Kumar‘s Valimai, and the Alia Bhatt-starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi, and have been performing well at the box office. Several more films are slated to release in theatres in the coming months in Hindi, Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and other languages.
But if you are in the mood to watch something from the comfort of your own homes, Silverscreen India brings you this list of seven OTT releases this week.
1. Rudra: The Edge of Darkness (March 4) – Disney+ Hotstar
The story of this thriller series revolves around DCP Rudraveer Singh (Ajay Devgn), who hunts down criminals in Mumbai. The series also stars Esha Deol and Raashi Khanna.
2. The Boys Presents: Diabolical: Season 1 (March 4) – Amazon Prime Video
According to the official synopsis, this animated series will feature 12-14 minute episodes, each with its own animation style, which will reveal unseen stories within The Boys universe.
3. He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Season 2 (March 4) – Netflix
In season 2 of this animated series, the fate of Eternos hangs in the balance, as He-Man and the heroes form new alliances to stop Skeletor from raising an army of the dead and obtaining ultimate power.
4. Pieces of Her (March 4) – Netflix
In Pieces of Her, a woman tries to learn about her mother’s dark past, after a violent attack in their small town brings hidden threats and deadly secrets to light. The series is based on a novel of the same name.
5. DJ Tillu (March 4) – Aha Video
DJ Tillu is a Telugu film that revolves around a lazy young man, who spends his time chasing women. When a local DJ and an affair with a young woman put him in the middle of a crime, he must do his best to get out of the predicament he is stuck in.
6. Ramany vs Ramany 3.0 (March 4) – Aha Tamil
Ramany vs Ramany 3.0 is a reboot of the late 90s and early 2000s Tamil television series Ramany Vs Ramany. The family drama series retains actor Ramji in the lead role as Mr Ramany, while Vasuki Anand will essay the role of Mrs Ramany. Ponni Suresh and Param Guhanesh will be seen playing the roles of their children. The series is directed by Naga and produced by Kavithalayaa.
7. Undekhi Season 2 (March 4) – Sony Liv
Undekhi is the story of two opposite worlds in collision. When Rishi, an amateur filmmaker from a big city, decides to do the right thing, he ends up in the crosshairs of the Atwals, a dangerous and powerful family from the rustic heartland.
