The first film to hit the app would be Sriya Reddy starrer Andava Kaanom. The film which was to see a release in 2017, is a comedy-drama helmed by C Velmathi, an erstwhile assistant of Suseenthiran. The film based on real-life incidents that happened near Theni and also features Vinod Munna, Arun Brother, Naveena, and Ilaiyaraaja in prominent roles with several other newcomers. Reportedly a rural women-centric film, it has PV Shankar on camera, Asvamitra on music, Sathyaraj Natrajan on edit, and AK Muthu on art. Lyrics have been penned by Mathurakavi.
The trailer and teaser of the film were released back in 2017 but later taken down from YouTube unannounced. Now the makers, JSK Film Corporation, have released a new teaser for the film with Vijay Sethupathi‘s voiceover narration of the film.
We are shown an ‘Anda’ (who VJS claims is himself) and his sister Shanthi (Sriya) who is extremely fond of the Anda and unwilling to spare anybody who lays an eyeball on it. We then get to see the village they reside in, the villagers’ fist fighting with Shanthi, a bleeding couple on the floor, an arrangement of all the Andas in the village, and Vijay Sethupathi’s request to unite him with his sister.
The film will be available for streaming on the app from August 28.
