SVF Entertainment’s ‘Detective’ Is The First Bengali Film Going Direct-To-Digital; Premiers On Hoichoi On August 14

Shree Venkatesh Films Entertainment Pvt. Ltd a.k.a SVF Entertainment, a popular Bengali media and entertainment house that is known for the production and distribution of Bengali films as well as the distribution of Hindi and English films will have their first OTT release on August 14th.

The film titled Detective helmed by Joydeep Mukherjee will hit their homegrown Bengali OTT platform Hoichoi. Hoichoi is an entertainment platform that provides a wide range of content including original web series’, films, and, shorts and free music.

Detective is a thriller comedy based on the 1898 short story of the same name written by Bengali writer and Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore. The thriller stars Anirban Bhattacharya, Ishaa Saha, Ambarish Bhattacharya, Shaheb Bhattacharjee, and Trina Saha in the lead roles with several others in important roles.

On the technical front, Tuban has handled the camera, Moloy Laha has handled edit, Nafisa Mondal is on the art, and Joy Sarkar has composed the music for the film. Story recreation and screenplay and dialogue penning have been done by Sougata Basu while Riturupa Bhattacharya has designed costumes and Abhijit Das has done the makeup.

In 2015, twenty of Rabindranath Tagore’s stories were handpicked and made into a 26-episode Hindi television series titled ‘Stories by Rabindranath Tagore’ by Anurag Basu. It is noteworthy that ‘Detective’ was also a part of the twenty stories that were adapted for the screen.

The film which also marks the first direct-to-digital release in East India will stream from August 14 on their new property ‘First Day First Show’.
