Airlift, directed by Raja Krishna Menon, tells the true story of India’s biggest air evacuation mission that happened in Kuwait, after Iraq invaded the country. The trailer of the film is out and it is brilliant! Akshay Kumar plays Ranjeet, an Indian officer in Kuwait, who risks the lives of his family and himself to rescue millions of  Indians trapped in the war-struck country.
The trailer shows Akshay going through gripping, tense moments as he tries to convince his the government officials in India about the crisis in Kuwait. There are visuals of people fleeing the country, and Iraqi men in uniform roaming the streets of Kuwait, taking into custody anyone they find suspicious. Nimrat Kaur plays Akshay’s wife in the film.
The film, which is set to release on January 22, is sure to be a fitting tribute to the country on the occasion of Republic Day. As Akshay and other Indians in Kuwait huddle, waiting for the rescuers from India to arrive, you hear Vande Mataram playing in the background.
Airlift is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Nikkhil Advani, Aruna Bhatia, Monisha Advani, Madhu G Bhojwani and Vikram Malhotra.
