The trailer of Pandiraj’s romantic-comedy Idhu Namma Aalu opens with a shot of a visibly sad Simbu, with a popular ‘love failure’ song of T Rajendar playing in the background. ‘Vekkadha ponnu mela aasa’ (Don’t fall in love with women), sings TR, and we are introduced to the heroines – Nayanthara and Andrea Jeremiah. Clearly, Idhu Namma Aalu isn’t a breezy love story.
The trailer shows STR asking Nayanthara, “Love pannirkingala (Have you ever been in love?)”, and her face turning red. Further in the trailer, we are given hints that they have had their share of love failures and heartbreaks in the past, and we guess the movie is about how the couple overcome the troubles and go ahead with the relationship. And it looks like the makers want the audience to find connections between the characters and the actors playing them. We see an exasperated Nayanthara snapping at STR,”How many people will you fall in love with? Stop already”, and the actor taking a dig at her, “First you girls need to stop.”
Directed by Pandiraj, Idhu Namma Aalu might hit the screens on March 24. Produced by Simbu, the film has Arjunan, Jayaprakash, Udhayabanu Maheshwaran, Deepa Ramanujam and Amuthavaani Arumugam playing supporting roles.
