The first teaser of Karthik Subbaraj’s third venture, Iraivi, is out. The one-minute teaser, which doesn’t give away much, assures that the film, like the director’s previous films Jigarthanda and Pizza, deals with an interesting story, told in a fresh and quirky way.
Iraivi is the feminine word for Iraivan, a Tamil word which translates to God. The film has a horde of actors – SJ Suryah, Vijay Sethupathy, Bobby Simhaa, Anjali and Kamalini Mukherjee – playing the main roles. Bobby Simhaa, who played a ruthless gangster in Jigarthanda, seems to be playing an urban youngster in Iraivi.
The teaser says Iraivi is about ‘woMen‘. While we aren’t very sure what that means, we assume that the film portrays some peculiar man-woman relationships. The teaser shows a glimpse of actress Anjali, with an enigmatic smile on her face. Also, we see Kamalini Mukherjee laughing out and dancing hard at a party. Towards the end of the teaser, we hear a line that refers to the mythological Kannagi. Iraivi, definitely, has some interesting women characters.
Karthik Subbaraj’s regular collaborators – music director Santhosh Narayanan and editor Vivek Harshan – are part of Iraivi. Produced by C.V Kumar’s Thirukumaran Entertainment along with Studio Green, Iraivi will hit the screens this summer.
