Our song of the day is ‘Deewani Mastani’ from Bajirao Mastani, featuring Deepika Padukone as a court dancer who enters Bajirao’s palace. She sings directly to Ranveer, expressing her love for him. The song has part Sufi music where Padukone dances and Ranveer looks at her in complete awe. The song is inspired by ‘Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya’ from Mughal-e-Azam.
Shreya Ghoshal has rendered the song in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Deepika’s dance was choreographed by Remo D’souza, and it won him a national award. The shooting of this song was a grand affair which happened over 10 days, and 20,000 designed mirrors were used in palace around the dancers. The set was later turned into a museum.
