Happy birthday, Madhavan! Our song of the day is ‘Kaadhal Sadugudu’ from Alaipayuthey, the actor’s first Tamil movie after which he regularly worked with Mani Ratnam. In this song, Shakthi (Shalini) and Karthik (Madhavan) are a newly married couple who set up their home in a terrace flat. The song was one of the best from the album. AR Rahman’s music, along with Mani Ratnam and PC Sreeram’s visuals made it popular.
The film released in 2000 and was praised for both Shalini and Madhavan’s performances. This was one of Shalini’s last movies as an actor. Madhavan’s career took off from here and he has been delivering hits regularly since then.
