‘Oru Viral Puratchi’ from Sarkar is our song for election day as Tamil Nadu goes to the polls. This was one of the best tracks from the album, sung by Rahman and Srinidhi Venkatesh, and dedicated by Vijay to an entire generation of Tamil people. Vivek’s lyrics are simple and speak of the impact of every vote – “Ezhmaiyai ozhikkavae seyada muyarchiye, ezhaiyai ozhippadhe ungalin valarchiyaa.” Rahman, who is known for his string orchestration, uses an electric guitar to lead the song and it sets the tone. The film released during Deepavali last year, and this song was an instant hit.
