In the Velaikkaran teaser, actor Sivakarthikeyan sheds his Remo image to take on the greedy CEOs and probably lead the Tamil workers to a revolution.
“We’ve been adapting to the situation for ages now. It’s time for us to make sure the situation changes for us,” Sivakarthikeyan tells viewers in his most serious voice. Considering that his last film was Remo, the stalker fest, this is the most clear indication that in Velaikkaran, Siva means business.
It’s probably a role that propels him into the serious hero with a social conscience group, among actors like Dhanush, Suriya and the likes. In the teaser at least, Siva acquits himself well.
There’s a visual of him holding a mic in the teaser, though its unclear what he plans to do with it.
Interesting though are the minuscule yet important appearances from actors Fahadh Faasil and Nayanthara. Both of them appear fleetingly in this charged teaser, as Anirudh tries his best to make up for not being a part of Velaiyilla Pattathari 2.
The film is Mohan Raja’s turn to deviate from the norm. The director made his career by remaking popular South Indian films. Velaikkaran, on the other hand, is only his second original film. With such a promising star cast, and the relentless publicity machine that is 24 AM Studios at work, this movie is guaranteed a good opening.
It is up to the talents of Sivakarthikeyan and Mohan Raja to convert this into actual success.
Velaikkaran marks the Tamil debut of promising young actor Fahadh Faasil. Cinematography for the film is by Ramji. Actors Rohini, Vijay Vasanth, Sneha – all have pivotal roles in this film that is slated to release in September this year.
