Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions is busy prepping to bring Dostana 2 to the silverscreen. Dostana was a 2008 film starring Priyanka Chopra, John Abraham and Akshay Kumar, with the latter two pretending to be gay. The film has since received mixed responses for its portrayal of the community. News reports have speculated that the second installation of the series will not see the leading men pretending to be gay, but that they will actually play gay men.
Dostana 2 will star Kartik Aaryan, Jahnvi Kapoor and newbie Lakshya. Today, Kartik took to Twitter to reveal that work on the film was on.

Meanwhile, producer Karan too had a message for the lead actor.

Perhaps stung by all the nepotism charges, Karan recently clarified that Lakshya was chosen from an audition and has no former filmy connections. “Both happy and excited to introduce the new kid on the Dharma block! LAKSHYA will be making his debut with us in #DOSTANA2 and from thereon, we hope to start a solid cinematic journey together! Please welcome #Lakshya and shower him with all your love and blessings,” Karan tweeted and added, “Yes I woke up to several inquiries asking about his film industry connections!!! He is NOT from the business and went through a legit audition process !! Am grateful to Shanoo Sharma for introducing LAKSHYA to Dharma Movies.”
