The director of Kaththi – AR Murugadoss, along with the producers of the movie met with the Tamil Nadu Theatre Owner’s Association on Saturday. The meeting was held to discuss the Tamizhar Vaazhvurimai group, which has threatened protests if it is released under the Lyca Productions banner. “Lyca has been proven to be associated with Lankan President Rajapakse who was behind the killing of so many Tamil people during the civil war. If the film changes hands, that is Vijay or AR Murugadoss themselves step in to release, then we will have no objection to it!” The meeting ended without a resolution, and further meetings will be held Sunday.
Ticket reservations for the movie – which is scheduled to release on Deepavali – were supposed to begin Saturday, but have not begun yet. The Sunday meetings are expected to clear the air on the release date of the film.
