Ghostbusters: Afterlife, the upcoming horror comedy film part of a long-running franchise, will be featuring a new ghost called Muncher.
The film, which is the direct sequel to Ghostbusters 1 and 2, shows Muncher for a split second in the trailer.
According to a report by ScreenRant, the reveal came in an episode of Masterchef Junior: Spain where the contestants had to complete a challenge involving blue slime and six limbs. “Extra limbs notwithstanding, it seems pretty clear that this new ghost is highly derivative of Slimer, the iconic, plus-sized ghost from the original Ghostbusters,” the report said.
Ghostbusters: Afterlife will revive the franchise independent of the 2016 Ghostbusters film, starring Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig.
Directed by Jason Reitman, the film is about a single mother who moves into a new town with her two children. They soon realise that they have a connection to the original ghostbusters and the secret legacy that their grandfather left behind.
The film stars Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace, Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, and Annie Potts. Ivan Reitman who directed the first two instalments of the franchise has produced the film. It is written by Gil Kenan and Jason Reitman. The cast members from the original films including Bill Murray, Sigourney Weaver, and Dan Aykroyd will reprise their roles in the upcoming movie.
