Luca Guadagnino, the director of Timothee Chalamet-starrer Call Me By Your Name, said that the sequel to the Oscar-winning film is not on the cards any time soon. Guadagnino and Chalamet have been working on Bones And All, he told Deadline on May 29.
“The truth of the matter is, my heart is still there, but I’m working on [Bones and All] now, and I’m hopefully going to do Scarface soon, and I have many projects and so will focus on this side of the Atlantic and the movies I want to make,” he said.
Bones And All is an adaptation of the novel by the same name by Camille DeAngelis and also stars Michael Stuhlbarg, Mark Rylance, André Holland, Jessica Harper, Chloe Sevigny, Francesca Scorsese, and director David Gordon Green.
While Guadagnino did not mention any specific reason for stepping away from the sequel, it is speculated that the sexual assault accusations against Armie Hammer- who played the role of Oliver in Call Me By Your Name– might be the reason.
The incident came to light in January, followed by an investigation by the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service after Hammer posted a video clip of a woman “in a provocative position” on his bed, whom he referred to as ‘Miss Cayman’ in the caption.
Several complaints followed alleging The Lone Ranger actor of sharing screenshots of messages he had sent them on social media talking about “graphic sexual fantasies ranging from cannibalism to rape”, US Weekly had reported.

It was after this that rumours regarding him exiting Jennifer Lopez’s upcoming film, Shotgun Wedding, surfaced. The 34-year-old actor had told TMZ: “I’m not responding to these bulls—t claims, but in light of the vicious and spurious online attacks against me, I cannot in good conscience now leave my children for four months to shoot a film in the Dominican Republic.”
The allegations primarily came from two of Hammer’s ex-girlfriends, Paige Lorezne and Effie.
While Lorezne described her relationship with Hammer “like a real life 50 Shades Of Grey without the love” to the extent that it hurt her and left bad bruises, Effie accused the actor of “violently raping” her in Los Angeles in 2017.
Hammer denied the allegations and was dropped from several projects, including Paramount+’s The Offer, of The Godfather series.
