The upcoming film will be a Tamil-Telugu romantic comedy, the source further added.

This will mark Sivakarthikeyan’s debut in Telugu cinema. And for Anudeep, who shot to fame with his directorial debut, the hit Telugu comedy film Jathi Ratnalu (2021), it will mark his debut in Tamil.

“Both the story and direction will be by Anudeep. You can expect a lot of humour, given both the director and Sivakarthikeyan have a strong hold on comedy,” said the source.

The upcoming film will be produced by Sree Venkateswara Cinemas LLP, the banner which recently announced a trilingual starring Dhanush and directed by Sekhar Kammula.

According to the source, the script was written by the filmmaker about a year back, before the release of Jathi Ratnalu.

“Anudeep narrated the script to Sivakarthikeyan only about a week ago, so the team has not yet begun the pre-production work. It will take a couple of weeks to finalise everything. If all goes well, the team is planning to go on floors from November,” the source said, adding that an official announcement will be made in about 10 days.

“The rest of the cast members are not yet decided,” said the source. “However, the team is planning to rope in a south Indian actor for the female lead.”

The source also confirmed that the sequel to Jathi Ratnalu is definitely on, but might take about 3-4 years to materialise.

It is to be noted that Sivakarthikeyan is the third Tamil male actor whose debut in the Telugu film industry has been announced recently, after Vijay and Dhanush. While Dhanush is teaming up with Kammula as mentioned before, Vijay will be making his debut with filmmaker Vamshi Paidapally‘s next.
