Kurat is produced by Hamad Bin Baba under the Baba Film Company Banner with Badhusha NM on board as the project designer.

Speaking to Silverscreen India, director Nivin said that Kurat, which means ‘Devil’ in Spanish, is an investigation thriller. “The film’s script is written by my friend Ajesh Sebastian and it took us five years to make this project happen,” he added.

The filmmaker revealed that he and scenarist Ajesh reworked the script nine times over the last five years. “Creating this fictional story was indeed a challenging journey. But after a series of enhancements, we are now confident that we have come up with an interesting story.”

Nivin noted that the team is hoping to begin filming in the first week of November. The film’s technical crew includes music director PS Jayahari, who has previously composed songs for films like Athiran, cinematographer Ravi Chandran, and editor Dipin Divakar.

The director also said that they have roped in two top actors from the Malayalam industry to play the roles of the protagonist and antagonist. “However, it is too early to reveal the names. An official announcement regarding the cast will be made in the coming weeks.”

According to Kurat’s PRO Siva Prasad P, the film is currently in the pre-production stage. “The makers are planning to shoot in the high range locations in Kerala’s Thoduppuzha and Kottayam. Besides this, they have also planned a two to three-day shoot in Goa,” he said.

He added that the makers have roped in Mafia Sasi, a renowned stuntman in the Malayalam film industry, to choreograph the action sequences in Kurat.
