The actor, late on Friday, met with an accident under the Raidurgam police station limits when his bike skid. However, his vehicle did not collide with any other vehicle. The actor was initially admitted to Medicover Hospital in Hitec city, where he was intubated and put on assisted respiration. He was later shifted to Apollo Hospitals, Jubilee Hills after his condition was stabilized according to the hospital.

Speaking to Silverscreen India, Madhapur Assistant Commissioner of Police, Raghunandan Rao said, “We have booked a case which has been registered with Raidurgam Police Station under sections 336 and 279 of the Indian Penal Code and section 184 of Motor Vehicles Act. All these sections pertain to over speeding and negligence in driving.” The official added that after combing through the CCTV footage, it was deduced that the actor was driving at a speed of 100 kmph on the Durgam Cheruvu Cable Bridge, where the speed limit permissible is only 35 kmph. Rao mentioned that again, at the place of offence, near Novartis, the speed limit permissible is only 30 kmph, but the actor drove at 75 kmph.

In addition, the official said the actor’s family has only produced a copy of his driving license that would permit him to ride light motor vehicles. “They are yet to give a valid driving license to drive a sports bike, which he needs an appropriate two-wheeler license for. As of Monday morning, they have not produced. Since he is undergoing treatment, we will be looking into it later. If there is no valid license, we will add appropriate case sections,” he added. It is to be noted that the official added that the bike Sai Dharam Tej was riding was bought by one called Bura Anil Kumar but has not been registered on the actor’s name so far.
