DVV Entertainment, the producers of the upcoming pan-Indian film RRR, expressed their concerns over the “slashing of ticket prices” in Andhra Pradesh and how it will affect their film, and conveyed on social media on Sunday that they are planning to approach the state’s chief minister to talk about the issue.
RRR, aka Roudhram Ranam Rudhiram, is helmed by filmmaker SS Rajamouli and is scheduled to release in theatres on January 7, 2022. It is a fictional account of freedom fighters Alluri Sitaramaraju and Komaram Bheem, played by actors Ram Charan and Junior NTR, respectively. The film’s star cast includes Hindi actors Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn, Irish actor Alison Doody, as well as Shriya Saran, Ray Stevenson, and Olivia Morris.
Made on a budget of Rs 450 crore, RRR will be released in five languages – Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.

As the film nears its release, rumours and local media reports started emerging that the makers of RRR were planning to go to court “to get permission to release the film with higher ticket prices.” However, DVV Entertainment refuted these reports on Sunday and clarified that they have no plans to take the legal route to deal with the issue.
“It is true that the slashing of ticket prices will affect our film immensely. But we at #RRRMovie have no intention of going to court. We are trying to approach the honourable Andhra Pradesh CM garu and explain our situation for an amicable solution,” they said in their tweet.
It is to be noted that in April, movie ticket prices in Andhra Pradesh were capped by the state government at Rs 250 based on an order from the High Court. Following this, the state government also decided in September to introduce an online ticketing system to further enforce the prices fixed by the government. This system is yet to be implemented.
