His condition remains stable, as per a bulletin from the hospital.

“Post my return from the US, I had a slight cough. Upon examination, it was confirmed that I had contracted Covid-19. I am now in isolation at the hospital. Please understand that the epidemic is not over yet and stay safe everyone,” Haasan tweeted.

The actor, who is currently hosting the Tamil reality TV show Bigg Boss Season 5, revealed on Sunday’s episode that he undertook a trip to the US for business purposes. Haasan recently launched the Khadi fashion label, KH House of Khaddar, in Chicago.

Haasan is admitted to Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre in Chennai. According to a statement from the hospital, released late Monday evening, the actor was admitted with “complaints of lower respiratory tract infection and fever.”

“He has tested COVID positive. He is on medical management and his condition is stable,” the statement added.

It is to be noted that earlier in March, Haasan was vaccinated against the virus at the same hospital and the actor also encouraged others to safeguard themselves by taking the jab.

Meanwhile, on the work front, apart from hosting Bigg Boss, Haasan also has the upcoming Tamil film Vikram set to release in April 2022. Also starring actors Vijay Sethupathi and Fahadh Faasil, it is directed by filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj. The makers recently revealed a glance from the film.

Other projects of the actor include Indian 2, the long-pending sequel to his 1996 film with director Shankar, and potential films with filmmakers Pa Ranjith and Vetri Maaran. However, while talks were said to be on, no official announcements have been made on these possible collaborations.
