The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) booked Sanghvi under an FIR registered based on a complaint by one Mahendra Ranmal Shah. The producer is charged under the sections of the Indian Penal Code related to cheating, criminal conspiracy, breach of trust, making a false document, forgery of valuable security, using as genuine a forged document, and common intention.

According to a report in The Indian Express, the FIR in the case was first registered in 2018.

In his complaint, Shah said that he had purchased three flats back in 2013 at Turner Road from two companies of the Kamala Landmark group – Kamala Infra and Kamala Landmark Properties. He then rented out one of the flats to Alumbra Entertainment and Media Pvt Ltd, which is another company of the Kamala Landmark group. Sanghvi and one Jitendra Jain are directors of this company, an official told The Hindu. The other two flats were rented to a different entity.

Though the flats were on rent, Kamala Landmark Properties sold two of them to a third party, the official added.

The EOW has now arrested Sanghvi in connection with this selling of the two flats, whose estimated value is Rs 13.74 crore.

He was produced before a local court on Tuesday, which then remanded him to police custody till Saturday.

This is not the only case the producer has been implicated in. Earlier, in September this year, the Enforcement Directorate had raided Sanghvi’s residence, office and clubs in connection to a bank default case. Later, the producer was brought to the ED office, where he was questioned for several hours over a money laundering case.

Even before this, in 2018, Sanghvi was questioned by Thane Police in connection with the betting racket in the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, he was later given a clean chit and was made a witness in the case along with actor Arbaaz Khan.
