However, the 19-year-old, one Dhanush, was later released after being given a stern warning. No FIR has been registered against him.

Dhanush had been employed by Galrani to work at her residence in Royapettah, Chennai.

Speaking to Silverscreen India, Inspector Sivagami of D2 Anna Salai Police Station, Chennai, said, “He [Dhanush] comes from a rural background. Once he came to the city and started to work here, out of desire, he had stolen petty objects like Christmas lights and a hair trimmer.”

When he was found out, Galrani had warned him about not doing it again, the inspector added. “But he subsequently ran away with some of her belongings and the actor placed a complaint with the police. However, she asked us to only warn him, since he is very young. It would have been serious, if he had taken items like precious jewels,” the inspector further said.

Galrani’s complaint was filed on January 11, after which the police traced and picked up Dhanush at his native village near Virudhachalam, Tamil Nadu. Later, he was brought back to Chennai for questioning.

“After he was nabbed, he apologised for his behaviour and vowed never to do it again. His parents were also informed about the situation and were given a warning as well,” said the inspector.
