Lyricist Pa Vijhay (Pa. Vijay) is gearing up to direct his first film, a scientific-thriller titled Strawberry. At a press meet held in the city yesterday, Vijhay said, “Since Strawberry is my first directorial, we faced a lot of technical difficulties. The movie also needed 40 minutes of computer graphics which was a huge challenge. To overcome this, we shot those visuals first on a small scale and gained a basic understanding of how the final product would look. We rectified small mistakes by doing this pre-shoot.”
Music director Taj Noor and director Pa Vijhay took nearly a year-and-a-half to finish composing songs for the film. Several high profile singers have sung for Strawberry, including actor Siddharth, who sings the theme song; music directors D Imman and GV Prakash; and National Award winner Uttara Unnikrishnan. “We are planning to launch the audio in a month,” Pa Vijhay added.
The movie is shot extensively in Chennai and Pondicherry, and stars Pa Vijhay, Avani Modi, Samuthirakani,, Devayani, Joe Malluri, Robo Shankar and Mayilswamy in important roles. Actor Thambi Ramaiah, who shot with the unit for 3 days, will be seen in a cameo. Strawberry, a July release, is produced by Vil Makers Production, and is based on a true story in a woman’s life.
