On July 8, the Madras High Court imposed an interim stay on the release of the Simbu-Hansika starrer Vaalu, following a case filed against the producers of the film by Magic Rays, a distribution firm. Hence, Vaalu will not hit the screens on July 17, as scheduled.

Magic Rays claimed that the release rights of Vaalu in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Pondicherry were bought by them in 2013 for Rs 10 crores. And despite this, the film is now being released by Chimbu Cine Arts, they alleged. The case was investigated today, and after listening to arguments from both parties, the judge decided to impose a stay on the release of the film.
Additionally, it has been reported that there are six more cases that have been filed against the film.
This judgement comes as a big blow to the film team, which has already battled too many twists.
