Prithviraj Sukumaran’s next is a comedy-drama with a funny title – Pavada (Skirt). The trailer of the film was initially released in theatres on December 24, along with Dulquer Salman’s Charlie. It was released on internet on December 31.
Directed by Marthandan, Pavada is about two men, played by Prithviraj and Anoop Menon, who meet and bond over liquor. The trailer has plenty of humourous moments. Prithvi’s character, Paambu Joy, is an alcoholic who is known by a nickname ‘paavada’, for unknown reasons. A jolly-good fellow, Joy meets another alcoholic (Anoop Menon) at a rehabilitation centre. Actor Maniyanpillai Raju, who has funded the film, plays an important role in Pavada. Mia George plays a nurse, who is in love with Joy.
Prithviraj’s energetic performance as Joy is the highlight of the trailer. Actor Jayasurya has sung a spirited number , Nammude muthaanu Joy, which describes Joy’s popularity among the villagers. However the trailer does hint that Mia has nothing important to play in the movie, which is mostly about the two alcoholics and the hardships they face.
