Seenu Ramaswamy‘s next film, Dharmadurai will release on 19 August. Seenu is very excited with the way the film has turned out. “Dharmadurai is a story that is very close to me. When Idam Porul Eval did not release, I found the whole situation upsetting. I set that aside only when the story of Dharmadurai took root in me,” he told Silverscreen, yesterday.
Actor Vijay Sethupathi, who plays the male lead in Dharmadurai is very deserving of his title – Makkal Selvan. “Vijay has been in this industry for four years, and he has already been a part of many iconic films. The way people view him is just amazing to watch. It’s no an easy feat to cultivate such a fan following in so short a time. He began his film career with me, but has soon built up such an amazing career. When I approached him with Idam Porul Eval and Dharmadurai, he blindly said ‘yes’. He’s so apt for this character. His role in this film will be much appreciated,” says Seenu.
Seenu worked to ensure that he did not compromise on his vision. “I wanted to make a film on the importance of adequate medical assistance in rural areas. Everyday, we read the newspaper and learn of people dying because they didn’t get immediate help. This is an issue that needs to be projected on a large scale. This is something I was not willing to compromise on,” he said.

Tamannaah too has taken on a ‘daring’ role according to Seenu. “Tamannaah has acted without makeup in my film. It is a completely different role than the ones she has done before. I enjoyed the work she did in Baahubali, and felt that she would be a value-addition to my cast. She had so much faith in the script, she immediately signed on to be a part of my film.”
Starring Vijay Sethupathi, and Tamannaah Bhatia in lead roles, the film has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Aishwarya Rajesh, Srushti Dange, and Radhikaa Sarathkumar essay important roles in this project. RK Suresh produces it under his Studio 9 Productions.
