The movie is produced by Sri Thenandal films and its marks the 100th film for the production house. Sangamithra is expected to beat the cost of Baahubali and Endhiran.
Talking about the cast, Murali Ramaswamy, on behalf of Sri Thenandal films, told Silverscreen.in, “It’s too early to comment on the cast”. Dismissing rumours about Vikram being roped in for the movie, he said the cast will be finalised shortly.

Confirming that it will be a historical movie, Sundar C said that the cast will have a number of stars, along with a prominent south Indian actor in the lead. Hema Rukmani, CEO of the production company said that the movie will have leading actors from multiple industries and they are looking for a “pan-Indian star cast”.
The movie will be made in three languages: Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi.
Sundar C added that the movie will go on the floors only in March 2017. Although they have completed the script writing, the movie demands a lot of pre-production work. “We have already started working on creating storyboards and animation. Technicians in the UK, USA, and Denmark are currently working on the project”.
The movie is likely to be completed only in 2019.
Tamil writer Prapanchan, who won the Sahitya Akademi award for his novel Vaanam Vasappadum, has written the story.
