Writer and chairman of Marvel Comics, Stan Lee, will have his life made into a movie soon. Twentieth Century Fox, the studio behind the X-Men and Fantastic Four franchises, has reportedly acquired Lee’s life rights to create a period action-adventure film.
Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey, the producers of Twilight, The Maze Runner and the upcoming Power Rangers films, will produce the film. Lee and Gil Champion, Lee’s partner at POW! Entertainment, are the executive producers. According to the Comic Book, Lee’s role has been described as being akin to Roger Moore’s 007 character, hinting that there will be plenty of action, one-liners and flirting with women. The film will be set in the 1970s.
Lee is a renowned figure in the comic book world, credited with helping to create characters like Spider-Man, The Hulk, Fantastic Four, Iron Man and X-Men before becoming the publisher of Marvel Comics in 1972. He began working for Marvel in 1939, when the company was called Timely Comics. In the 1970s, Lee moved to Hollywood to pursue the dream to see his characters adapted for the big and small screens. He eventually rose to the position of publisher and has long been the face of the company, appearing in every Marvel film from X-Men to Captain America: Civil War. He even featured in the recent Deadpool film starring Ryan Reynolds.

It’s reported that the project will not be a biopic, but rather a re-creation of Lee’s life as an adventure story – much like those of the characters he created. There is currently no writer hired to flesh out the story, which means the details around the project would change over time.
Meanwhile, Lee last made headlines in August this year when he defended the rumored casting of former Disney channel star Zendaya as Mary Jane Watson, Spider-Man’s iconic red-haired girlfriend in Marvel and Sony’s upcoming epic, Spider-Man: Homecoming.
