Actress Vidya Balan has been diagnosed with dengue fever and has since been put under observation at home. Two of her neighbours, including actor Shahid Kapoor, were served notices by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Friday, for failing to prevent breeding of Dengue larvae at their apartments.
Shahid Kapoor was served a notice by BMC after the insecticide team visited the actor’s house and found mosquito breeding in the swimming pool that was apparently lying unused, said a Times Of India report. The actor lives two floors below Vidya’s flat in Mumbai’s Praneta apartments. The notice, served under section 382 of the BMC Act, attracts a fine of upto Rs 10,000. The BMC team also found two mosquito breeding spots on the 4th floor of the same building. Vidya Balan lives on the third floor.

Shahid Kapoor’s spokesperson told the media that the actor was concerned about the findings of BMC in his building and the locality, especially with the presence of a new born baby in the house.
Last year, BMC had served notices to the Bollywood actors Anil Kapoor, Juhi Chawla and singer Amit Kishore Ganguli for not taking steps to prevent mosquito breeding on their premises. Intermittent showers creating stagnant water, coupled with rise in temperature in the city has lead to a dengue outbreak in the city, with over 1,500 suspected cases reported in just 11 days of September.
