Priyanka Chopra’s t-shirt in the cover photo of the latest Conde Nast Traveller issue has drawn flak from the Twitterati. In the cover, Priyanka is seen wearing a white T-shirt, with the words “Refugee, Immigrant, Outsider, Traveller” printed one below the other. The first three words are struck through.
Bold and fearless, @priyankachopra makes a statement on our 6th anniversary issue cover. #PCinCNT #WhyWeTravel pic.twitter.com/phtSE1ihVw

While the magazine claims to send a strong message, the statement has not gone down well with social media users, who feel the message is insensitive because being a refugee is not a choice that one makes.
Oh, I’m sorry, I wasn’t aware that being a refugee is a matter of choice…What were you thinking?! @CNTIndia @priyankachopra pic.twitter.com/WuyZv2iwp5

Not too long ago, Chopra was criticised on social media was for her comments on feminism. “I don’t like the phrase ‘woman of color.’ I feel like that puts women in a box. I’m a woman, whether I’m white, black, brown, green, blue, or pink — whatever. I think we need to start looking beyond that. It would be a big win for women, period,” she had said in an interview.
