S Madhan, film producer and Managing Partner of Vendhar Movies, was arrested from Tirupur by a special unit of the Chennai Police on Monday. Reportedly, he was staying at a friend’s house in the city. He will be brought in for questioning later today, a source at the Chennai Police Commissioner’s office told Silverscreen.
Madhan, who is involved in several financial fraud cases, had absconded in May this year. A suicide note left behind by him said that he had gone to Kasi to attain Samadhi. According to reports, a team of investigators spent months tracking Madhan’s movements, and eventually nabbed him in Tiruppur.

Madhan faces several counts of fraud (18 at last count), and will be charge-sheeted as soon as he is brought in, reports say. According to a press release, Madhan is said to have amassed properties worth crores in Uttarakhand and Manipur.
Reportedly, a special police unit searched for Madhan, under the directive of the Madras HC, in Thiruvananthapuram, Haridwar, Varanasi, Rishikesh, Kochi and Nagercoil.
Several complainants have gone on to accuse S Madhan of defrauding them out of crores of money. The press release states that 123 people have been scammed out of Rs 84.27 crores worth of money by Madhan and his cohorts. He is said to have lured people by promising to get them seats in the SRM Group of Institutions. The founder of SRM, Pachamuthu was arrested by the police earlier this year, after more than 100 students complained that they had paid money for obtaining a medical seat in SRM college, but were not admitted.
Bizarre rumours about S Madhan have been floating around ever since he disappeared. The producer’s colourful personal life had also proved to be fodder for the media.
