Actor Sooraj Pancholi has walked out of Cirrus. The film, said to be the directorial debut of Bosco Martis, was based on the life of trapeze artists. Parineeti Chopra and Pancholi had been attached to the project. A few months earlier, Parineeti walked out of the project citing date issues.
Soon after, the film faced several developmental delays. DNA quotes a source:
“Sooraj was committed to the film, but the film went through some casting issues with Parineeti Chopra walking out. The studio that Bosco had approached also had second thoughts following her exit. Sooraj had to give dates for Remo D’ Souza’s dance-musical. So, he and Bosco sat down and decided that as the film was stuck, it was best for the actor to move on too.”
Sooraj made his debut with Hero, that also starred Athiya Shetty, the daughter of actor Suniel Shetty.
Pancholi was also in the news following the death of his actress girlfriend Jiah Khan. Khan, in a suicide note, alleged that Pancholi forced her into aborting their child, and of mentally harassing her into taking the extreme step. The actor was arrested, and then later released on bail.
His debut film suffered partly due to this controversy. Additionally, it was not as entertaining a film as the original starring Jackie Shroff.
