One of the most famous Mollywood artistes of all time, Jagathi Sreekumar, made an appearance at the ongoing 21st edition of International Film Festival of Kerala on Saturday. He, along with veteran actress Sheela, inaugurated a visual installation titled ‘Designer’s Attic’, which portrays the journey of Malayalam cinema so far. The event is being held at Tagore theatre in Thiruvananthapuram.
Jagathy has been away from the film industry ever since he met with a fatal road accident in March 2012. The car in which he was travelling rammed into a median while negotiating a dangerous curve on the National Highway No. 17 in Malapppuram district. He sustained multiple fractures and injuries on his head, chest, and abdomen and also had a minor cut on his liver. The accident left him hospitalised for over an year.
Designer’s Attic showcases posters of Malayalam films from Balan, the first talkies in Malayalam, to the latest release Kammattipadam starring Dulquer Salman. Designs of artists and directors like Bharathan and C N Karunakaran are also on display. Old editions of various film publications are also part of the exhibition.
