Sridevi’s ‘Mom’ To Release In 2017 To Coincide With Golden Jubilee

Sridevi’s husband Boney Kapoor plans to release her film Mom in 2017. The release has been planned to coincide with Sri Devi’s golden jubilee. The iconic actress will complete fifty years of acting in 2017.

Starring Sri Devi and Akshaye Khanna, Mom has run into several roadblocks since its inception. Directed by Ravi Udyawar, much of the film was shot in Georgia. Initially scheduled to release in 2016, the presence of Pakistani actors Adnan Siddiqui and Sajal Aly, made the makers rethink their decision, following objections raised by right-wing outfits in India against films like Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, which had Pakistani actors in the cast.

Sridevi made her acting debut at the age of four, and was a successful child star with films like Muruga and Nam Naadu, among others. She made the transition from child star to lead actor successfully, and was part of several cult hits, including 16 Vayathinile and Sigappu Rojakkal.

Sri Devi was a leading female actor in Bollywood and became during the ’80s and ’90s, with blockbusters like Tohfa (1984), Nagina (1986), and the iconic Mr.India (1987). In the late ’90s, she gave up her film career to concentrate on her personal life. She made a successful comeback with English Vinglish (2012) after a hiatus of fifteen years.
